Your people are your product
Outcomes, roadmaps, and metrics still matter. The product a leader is really building is the team that can deliver them.
A product leader is the steward of vision and strategy, a builder of teams, and the person ultimately accountable for outcomes. All three are the job. The one that gets skipped when the quarter gets loud is the middle one.
I put it in one sentence on purpose. Your people are your product.
The roadmap will change. The metric you are chasing this quarter will be replaced by another. What carries forward is the judgment of the people around you: how they find the real problem, how honestly they talk about what they are learning, and how they treat the customer and each other when the plan breaks.
That is not an invitation to stop caring about the business. The job of product is still to find the intersection of customer value and business value, and to learn fast enough to get there. Delight, and metrics that matter, are still the outcome. A team that cannot move those is not finished work either.
What I have watched is simpler than a framework diagram. Leaders who only manage the work burn people out. Leaders who only manage the people lose the plot. The better path holds both, and it leaves room for a life. You are more than a product leader. Show up for yourself and the people you love before you show up to work. Then bring that same care to the team.
If you want the rest of how I teach this, start with the three frameworks. If you want a partner in practicing it, that is what working together is for.
